In the winter of 2005, my Mastiff, Woodrow was 5 months old. I went to the big dog show at the Hamburg Fairgrounds to watch the Mastiffs in the ring. As I was leaving, I stopped to admire a huge brindle male and struck up a conversation with the owner. It turned out that they were only 45 minutes away from me and happened to have a litter of puppies at home. They had 11 of the 15 left, four having gone to their new homes. The idea of being surrounded by 11 mastiff puppies was my idea of heaven. I made arrangements to go visit; to “just look”. One week after that visit, I brought home Precious Gwendolyn of Pendleton, or my “just looking” puppy. Now Gwen is poised to have puppies of her own.
